I love shopping from the men’s department. I have said this before and I will say it again. There’s a certain level of comfort and “chill” that men’s cuts and tailoring offers that I just can’t get enough of sometimes. And I especially love shopping from the men’s department in winter time. Men’s clothing offers me so much more warmth and covering that women’s clothing does, and I don’t know about you but I would rather feel warm that freeze trying to look cute. (more…)
Long Lasting Lipsticks For The Girl Who Loves to Eat | Lipstick. Although it was invented 5 000 years ago it is still by far one of the top beauty products every woman wants and should have. Even women who are not “makeup people” love lipstick. It has the power to transform your look and is always a great choice if you want to add a pop of colour to your makeup look.
White Winter | If you have been reading my blog since the very beginning then you will know I am a major fan of wearing white during winter. Even though it may still be a little taboo to wear white after Labour Day in the US, we don’t really have such rules down here. And even if we did, I wouldn’t listen anyway.
How to choose the perfect winter coat | Just in case you have been living under a climate controlled rock lately, winter is here ladies and gentlemen and boy is it colder than ever! This winter (in Port Elizabeth and throughout South Africa) has given us some of the coldest days in winter history. Until this freezing-season some of hadn’t even realized that we have an “ice alert” feature in our cars, but we sadly now know that alert too well.
Welcome back to Brightly Black! In this post I will be guiding you on how to wear all black without looking boring. It goes without saying that Black is my absolute favourite colour. Or if you want to be technical about it, I don’t really have a favourite colour then do I? (Find out what I mean here). I hadn’t realized just how black my outfit was until after my photoshoot and I was going through my pictures.
Setting and finishing sprays are absolute must haves if you like having your makeup look polished, put together and ultimately last longer than normal (and I mean who doesn’t right?). I recently reviewed my favourite Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray in my previous blog post (read the review here) but stated that that was the only one I had ever really tried out in fear of wasting my time and money. Well today I have created the ultimate makeup finishing and setting sprays I hope to buy and try out soon. Fingers crossed that I manage to get my hands on all these sprays because I have heard nothing but good things about them.
Natural hair texture. I’ve always known that there were different hair textures out there but I never knew just how important it was to know which one you had until I cut my hair. To find out my hair story and why I cut it in the first place then please read my previous hair post, you may even also consider cutting your hair if you are struggling with it, who knows.
Hello, my name is Laurina and I have annoyingly oily skin. I have talked about my struggles with my oily skin in previous posts and have written reviews on products I feel are great at combating that. such as my home-made lemon and sugar face scrub (read how to make it here), the Garnier 3 in 1 Pure Active Wash, Scrub and Mask (read review here) and the Garnier Even and Matte Clarifying Foam (read review here) and today I am here to tell you about another amazing product, Woolworths Makeup Finishing Spray.
How to wear on oversized sweater| Winter is here! And you know what that means, time for hot chocolate, hot baths, warm clothing, layering and most importantly oversized sweaters. I love oversized sweaters. There is nothing comfier, okay maybe a warm fuzzy fresh bath robes, but you can’t walk around (without looking crazy) in a bath robe around town so oversized sweaters will have to do.
In my previous fashion post I promised you that I would be posting yet another fashion post inspired by the LEGit x Boity collaboration. Well, here it is! LEGit x Boity x Laurina Machite Look 2. If you missed the first post no worries, simply read it here and then come back here for more! (don’t forget to come back for more)
In this outfit I decided to keep things a bit more normal and less daring than the other post. I didn’t want to go too all out as I felt it would sway all the attention from this gorgeous dress. As soon as I put this dress on I knew it was a winner (and I understand you have heard me say this a lot but I am a girl who knows what she wants and knows a fabulous piece of garment when she puts it on and this one was a winner!).
I cut my hair and went natural. Why? That was the number one question I got from my friends and my family when I walked up to them with a head full of, well, no hair! I was more surprised about the fact that they were surprised about me cutting my hair more than they were about cutting my hair (what a mouthful). What I am trying to say is, I change my hairstyle and cut my hair so often, I don’t see how anybody could be surprised at this point. Well, here’s the real reason I cut my hair and went with the big chop.
Unlike all the other times I have cut my hair, this time around I took a lot of time thinking about whether I would actually do it or not. I had been struggling with my hair for a long time before I decided that “the big chop” was the way forward.
LEGit x Boity x Laurina Machite! I mentioned in my previous fashion post (Something Different Something New) that I wanted to take fashion risks and try something new and that is exactly what I tried to do with this look. I fell in love with this LEGit x Boity skirt as soon as I saw it. I had seen it at the entrance of the shop window but I wanted to add a bit of a twist to the way Boity wore it. Don’t get it twisted, she absolutely nailed it, but I wanted to go for a slightly different look and feel.
